The Violinist
Back to Home Page
All right. We've got a temporary home page up at http://www.mrandmrswatson.com/. We'll get a better one up as soon as we get a new ethernet card. There was a bad lightning strike three weeks ago, and it damaged our electronic devices in several rooms. (TV, computer ethernet card, router, xb0x, etc.) Most of it is all straightened out now, but we still have to buy an ethernet card, and then the website will be as close to perfect as I can get it.
My parents and I met with a musician duo this weekend, a violinist and guitarist. We like them pretty well, and will most likely hire them for the ceremony. Although the violinist did make it clear that if the weather is even remotely bad she won't play outside. But, that's what contracts are for. We're going to have very traditional music. Mom wants Aaron Copeland. I want Pachelbel's Canon, Wagners Bridal March and Mendelsohnn's March. Dad doesn't know yet what piece he might want. And, I haven't had a chance to ask Susan if there is any classical music she wants played during the seating.
Mom and I also went over to the country club to see the ballroom decorated for a wedding reception Saturday afternoon. There wasn't much in the way of decoration. It was very plain, and Mom thinks we definitely need to do more than that. They had the plain white tablecloths, and a bowl of water in the center with a few floating blossoms, and rose petals scattered around that. Not tasteless, certainly, but not... very expressive. I don't know what I want the tables to look like, but I like candlelight.
Mom was chased out of the room by the DJ doing a sound check. He started playing a loud country song and mom backed out of the room with a look of disgust. When we got home, mom called the music "loud rock," and when I told her it was country, she said it was "not like any country I've ever heard." Which is to say, it's not the Dixie Chicks or bluegrass.
Tom and I are working on save the date cards, and then I have a list of things that need to get done after that, ordered by urgency.
